Skin cancer is one of the most common of all the cancers, its also one of the easiest to prevent. Made for Shade is a non-profit event used to purchase shade structures, shaded playground equipment and/or plant trees on public school playgrounds to provide shaded areas for children. Our intent for this event is to educate the public on the effects of the sun and to stress the importance of sun safety and skin protection. UV (ultraviolet) light is the strongest between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. which is when children are outside playing during recess, and this shade may be their only form of skin protection.
